Cayton Bay is
large sea fishing venue and offers fishing into rocks or onto
clean sand. It is also a mecca for surfers.
The car park belongs to the Cayton Bay Surf Surf Shop who,
as well as selling all of the surfing gear and surfing lessons
anyone could need, offer snacks and hot drinks. There are
also free toilets and warm showers housed at the rear of the
shop, shown below.
Access to the beach is via a concrete ramp (shown below) which
is quite steep but easy compared to many marks on the Yorkshire
coast.
Below is another access point which can be found near the
Pumping Station. Further access points are show on an OS map,
but the most convenient is the ramp near the car park.
Below are a couple of warning signs regarding the use of the
beach. I didn't come across an area of soft sand/mud but that
doesn't mean it isn't there. It also looks like the nude angling
isn't an option either!

The beach has a number of World War 2 Pill Boxes on it which
are in very good condition. The two shown below are at the
southern end of Cayton Bay.

Most areas of Cayton Bay offer an escape route if you are
cut off by the tide. However, the extreme southern end of
the bay backs on to the vertical cliffs below. This southern
part of the beach appears to feature a sand bar that runs
parallel with the sea which is quite a bit higher than the
beach behind it. Getting cut off looks like a possibility
due to the sea flooding in behind you.

Caution:
Keep an eye on the tide - specifically watch out for the sea
flooding in behind you.
