Cloughton Wyke is a small venue which is known for it's ability to throw up some very good cod fishing during the right conditions. Like Hayburn Wyke it is not for anyone with mobility problems.

The photo above shows the access point and the rocks you have to climb over. About half way across the rocks you can see a band where every rock is white. I believe these are rocks covered in dried gull droppings, which are extremely slippery.

It is not advisable to get too to the cliffs. You're never going to stand a chance if a land slip like the one photographed above comes down on you.

The ground at Cloughton Wyke is very rough and the only sensible tackle to use is a good rock fishing rod and a suitable reel loaded with 30-35lb mainline. A suitable reel would be a 7000 sized Abu, Daiwa SLOSH 30 (SL30SH) or a Penn 535. The rig should incorporate a rotten bottom.

Caution: Cloughton Wyke is very rocky. Boots with plenty of ankle support are a must. The rocks can also be very slippery and any boots with metal studs will offer a distinct advantage.
